Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Try Easier LLC ("Try Easier," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and handles your information when you use the Try Easier app and website at tryeasier.app ("Services"). We keep this straightforward because your privacy matters and the language shouldn't require a lawyer to understand.
Information We Collect
The Try Easier app is designed to work primarily on your device. Here is what we collect and why:
- Habit and goal data: Your habits, goals, and logs are stored locally on your device. If you choose to enable cloud backup, this data is stored securely on our servers so you can restore it or sync across devices. Anything you type yourself, such as a habit name or a custom cue, is your own content and is stored only in your private backup.
- Account data: You can use the app without an account, with your data staying on your device. To enable cloud backup and sync, the app offers Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. When you use one of these, we receive the email address associated with that account (Sign in with Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your real one). We use this only for account access and backup, never for marketing.
- Usage data: We may collect basic, de-identified diagnostic information (such as crash reports, error diagnostics, or feature usage counts) to keep the app stable and improve it. This data is not used to identify you personally.
We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, or payment information unless you explicitly provide it (for example, in-app purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple or Google).
Website Visitors
The tryeasier.app website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Like nearly all websites, it is served through a hosting provider (Cloudflare), which processes visitor IP addresses as a technical necessity of delivering the site. We do not access or store this information ourselves.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect solely to operate and improve the Try Easier app. Specifically:
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Services
- To enable cloud backup and sync features if you opt in
- To diagnose technical problems and fix bugs
We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal information with advertisers or third-party marketing companies. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or a valid legal process, and only to the extent required.
Legal Bases for Processing (EEA and UK Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- To provide the app, your account, cloud backup, sync, and purchases: performance of a contract with you.
- For crash reports, diagnostics, and keeping the Services secure: our legitimate interests in maintaining a stable, reliable, and secure app.
Data Storage and Security
Local data is stored on your device using standard platform storage. Cloud data is stored using Supabase, a third-party infrastructure provider, with encryption in transit and at rest. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, though no system is completely secure.
How Long We Keep Your Data
Local data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Cloud backup data is kept for as long as your account exists and is deleted when you delete your account. Crash and diagnostic data is retained only briefly by our diagnostics provider and then discarded.
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase: cloud database and authentication
- RevenueCat: subscription and purchase management. Your purchases are tied to a pseudonymous account identifier, not to your email. RevenueCat also stores the same one-way per-install identifier described under PostHog below, so purchases and app usage can be counted against one installation.
- Sentry: crash reporting and error diagnostics. A crash report contains your device model, operating system version, app version, the technical details of the error, and a short trail of your recent activity in the app leading up to it. It carries the same one-way per-install identifier described under PostHog below, which lets us tell repeated crashes on one installation apart from crashes across many. Your name, email, account identity, and anything you type are never included, and your IP address is removed before the report leaves your device, so it is not included in the report.
- PostHog: product analytics. The app sends de-identified usage events (such as when the app is opened) tagged with a one-way identifier derived from a random value created when the app is installed, not from your account. That identifier cannot be reversed to anything about you, and PostHog itself holds no name, email, or account information. It is the same value used by RevenueCat and Sentry above, so activity resolves to one installation across the three. Your name, email, account identity, and anything you type are never sent, and IP addresses are discarded rather than stored.
- Apple App Store / Google Play: app distribution and payment processing
Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Where Your Data Is Processed
Cloud backup, account, and payment data are processed on servers in the United States. Analytics data is processed on servers in the European Union. We require the infrastructure providers we work with to protect your data under contract, using Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
Your Rights
You can use Try Easier entirely offline without enabling cloud backup. Wherever you live, you can access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. Your habit data can be exported from within the app, and you can contact us for a copy of anything else we hold. Delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app settings, or, if you no longer have the app installed, through our account deletion page. Contact us at the address below for anything else, and we will respond within one month. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The Services are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
